Mrs. Boston began her career at GMHS as an English teacher for 20 years, was the Digital Teacher Librarian for 3 years, and became the Instructional Coach in 2019.
She is a GM alum (class of 1990), earned her BA in English at Colorado State University, her Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from Grand Canyon University, and her Librarian Endorsement from CU Denver.
She loves to read, tackle DIY home projects, work out, enjoy time with her family, and play with her cats.
Instructional coaches are not evaluators. They are not a mole for administration, and the conversations they have with teachers are confidential. Their purpose is to work with teachers and help them achieve their goals for themselves and their students.
High quality instructional coaches enter into the partnership with teachers knowing that learning is a two-way street. Jim Knight (2007) says, "Instructional coaches who operate from the partnership principles enter relationships with teachers believing that the knowledge and expertise of teachers is as important as the knowledge and expertise of the coach."
Learning is at the heart of what instructional coaches do.
“The Coach’s main role deals with expanding the ability to see contexts, rather than supplying content. The person being coached then sees new ways to utilize existing skills.” (Julio Olalla)
