Betty Agens - Learning Specialist

Greetings from Ms. Agens-Hanson ! Happy 2022/2023 School Year! We are off to a wonderful start, and it's our year to SHINE ON!

It is such an honor and privilege to be an Elk Creek Eagle, and I continually strive to support students who have unique learning needs. My primary goal as a learning specialist is to equip students with the tools and confidence to continually grow and make progress- ultimately, instilling a life-long love of learning.

A little bit about me...I'm a native Nebraskan. I graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln (Go Big Red!). I obtained my teaching certificate and Masters degree in Special Education from the University of Colorado-Denver. My educational career has spanned over 28 years. I've worked at Minturn Middle School (Eagle County), Deer Creek Elementary (Park County), and this will be my nineteenth year as a Learning Specialist at Elk Creek Elementary.

I'm the proud mother of two wonderful, grown children; Trey is the older, and he is an Academic Advisor at the University of Northern Texas - Denton, Texas. My daughter, Alta, just started her own waxing and skin care business. I'm so proud of the kind and caring human beings that they've become. Of course we mustn't forget Teddy! He's our almost 7-year-old Golden Retriever and my steady and reliable hiking partner. In addition to teaching, my passions include: hiking, mountain climbing, hot yoga, reading, photography, travel, hot springs, live music and spending time with friends and family.

If you need to get ahold of me, my preferred method of communication is email: Betty.Agens@jeffco.k12.co.us
