About the Teachers

Andrew Cogswell is excited to be starting in his new role as Elementary Band Director in the Bear Creek Articulation Area and Middle School Band Director at Bear Creek K–8.

A product of Jeffco Public Schools, Mr. Cogswell earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from Colorado State University. Prior to this position, Mr. Cogswell taught middle school and high shcool band and orchestra at Alameda International for 14 years. During his tenure at Alameda, he revitalized the marching band and earned the school's first CBA Class 2A State Finals appearance in 2021. He had numerous students selected for various honor ensembles and in 2016, Mr. Cogswell was named Band Director of the Year by the Colorado Honor Band.

An active saxophone player, he is in high demand as a clinician for area Jazz Bands, Marching Bands, and anything in between. He frequently performs in local high school pit orchestras as well. Mr. Cogswell holds memberships in CBA, CMEA, and Phi Beta Mu. He enjoys hiking, camping, and cheering on all Colorado sports teams and spending time with his family.
