Program Information

  • I am so excited for a (hopefully) normal year of playing instruments together in ensembles!

    • Please take a look at the band and orchestra syllabus for program details, but here are some highlights and important information:

    • Students will use bell covers for wind instruments (brass and woodwinds). Since we are all wearing a mask for regular school, you can pull down your mask while blowing through your instrument and then move your mask back up when finished and talking. These regulations follow county health guidelines.

    • School instruments are available for large instruments or largest need. Oberon does not have a large inventory of instruments to rent out, so most students rent from local music stores (Golden Music, Music and Arts, Rocky Mountain Music Repair, Flesher-Hinton). Miss Stafford will ask students the first day of school who is in need of school instruments. Rental forms

  • Keep your student stocked with supplies. Disposable items like reeds, strings and valve oil need to be on hand to get them back to playing quickly.

  • Students need to plan to take home instruments AT LEAST once a week to practice or complete assignments.

  • We will use Schoology for assignments. Students will join my custom Schoology classes during the first week of school. I am also planning on using Flip Grid for some playing test assignments as well.

  • Concerts! Please take a look at the concert schedule tab on this website or the syllabus. They are required. If there is an emergency, contact the teacher as soon as possible. Excused absences will be given a make-up assignment. If you sign up for the Remind App (refer to the syllabus), you will receive text message reminders about concerts.

  • Concert dress is all black. (Skirts and dresses must be below the knee when sitting!)

  • A new method book and an ensemble T-shirt will be provided using student fees.
