Taking private lessons outside of the school day is one of best ways to improve on your instrument. Participation in curricular music ensembles helps to nourish ensemble skills such as listening, blending, and matching style but nothing can replace one-on-one teaching with a professional on your instrument. Weekly lessons are ideal but lessons every other week is also a possibility for many students.

Take advantage of living in an area with MANY fantastic musicians who are willing to take on students. I cannot encourage this enough!!
