About Me

My name is Mrs. Swanson and I'm very excited to be  teaching 5th grade this year!  I'm looking forward to getting to know my new students and learning and growing together. 

From an early age I always knew I wanted to teach and feel like I am so lucky to be doing my dream each day. I went to school at Birmingham Southern while I earned a degree in Mathematics and Education.  I then earned my master's from Southern New Hampshire University in Education. 

My teaching career started 20 years ago in Arizona. I taught High school math there for 7 years at there.  When I moved to Colorado I started teaching at Platte Canyon, and then moved to teaching online for the last 10 years while we raised our kids. I am so excited to get back in the classroom and join the 5th grade team!

I grew up in Arizona and moved here 13 years ago when my husband and I got married. We now have three boys, Josiah (10), Ethan (9), and Theodore (6). We love being outdoors and spending as much time as a family. 

This year is going to be full of exciting experiences. I feel it is important to foster a love of learning for my students. I hope to make this year one that they will always remember.
