WELCOME TO THE OFF-SEASON! (April-July)
The off-season is where real growth begins. It’s the time when champions are built, habits are formed, and players decide who they want to become.
Take a moment to read the perspective below on creating yourself -Automic Habits. It’s a reminder that greatness doesn’t happen by accident — it’s built through daily choices, discipline, and commitment.
Our coaching staff is dedicated to more than just developing a successful volleyball program. Yes, we want to compete at the highest level, AND our true mission goes beyond wins and losses. We are committed to helping each athlete grow into an outstanding person — someone who demonstrates character, resilience, accountability, and leadership both on and off the court.
The off-season is your opportunity.
To get stronger, mentally and physically.
To sharpen your skills.
To push past comfort.
To become the teammate others rely on.
The work you put in now will shape the player — and the person — you become next season.
Let’s get to work.
Automic habits: “Building better habits isn't about littering your day with life hacks. It's not about flossing one tooth each night, taking a cold shower each morning, or wearing the same outfit every day. It's not about achieving external measures of success like earning more money, losing weight, or reducing stress.
Certainly, habits can help you achieve all of these things, but fundamentally they are not about outcomes—they are about becoming someone.
Ultimately, your habits matter because they help you become the type of person you wish to be. They are the channel through which you develop your deepest beliefs about yourself. Quite literally, you become your habits.
Summary
There are three levels of change: outcome change, process change, and identity change.
The most effective way to change your habits is to focus not on what you want to achieve, but on who you wish to become.
Your identity emerges out of your habits. Every action is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.
Becoming the best version of yourself requires you to continuously edit your beliefs, and to upgrade and expand your identity.
The real reason habits matter is not because they can get you better results—although they can do that—but because they can change your beliefs about yourself.
Your entire Arvada West Coaching Staff and School Staff BELIVES IN YOU! The whole you, and the future you. We cannot wait to get started with you all and see the best that is yet to come.
GO CATS!
-Coach Jess
