This week we continued our geometry work and lines of symmetry. We used what we know to find missing side lengths and to picture how folded shapes could be unfolded. Students are doing a great job of applying this years' worth of learning to this unit!
Please keep practicing math facts at home.
In reading we learned about realistic fiction and making predictions. We focused on writing responses to questions about our reading.
In writing we are writing poetry. We learned how to do many different types of poems. We also spent time talking about all the figurative language that we can add into poems.
If you could make sure your student is reading at least 20 minutes a day at home.
SSS: Science, Social Studies and STEM
Science: Fourth grade scientists are learning more about sound waves, pitch, volume and how the ear processes sound. Students participated in a fun Mystery Science lesson that focused on vibration and explored the question, "What would happen if you screamed in space?"
Social studies: We are ending social studies by looking deeper into the National Parks. Each student chose one park to learn more about. All fourth graders can get a park pass for free, look for the link in the weekly email.
STEM: We are doing Egg drop challenge!
