Ms. Axelson
I am currently in my 33rd year of teaching. My first eight years were spent in Adams County District 50 where I taught grades 2-5. I moved to Jeffco and spent 12 years teaching at Foster Elementary in Arvada where I taught 3rd and 4th grade. This is my eleventh year at Green Gables. I received my BA in education from UNC in Greeley and my MA in education from Regis University where I also spent 7 years as a mentor for graduate students in the education program. I also had the privilege of teaching a summer writing camp for kids through the Colorado Writing Project for 8 years. In 2006 I was awarded the Jared Polis Teacher Recognition award and in 2014 the PeaceJam Foundation named me their PeaceJam Teacher of the Year for 10 years of teaching students how to change their world through social justice and service learning. Teaching is definitely in my blood as my mother was a dynamite teacher herself, and we share a love of children's books. She is one of the reasons I became a teacher and have long loved the profession which quickly evolved into my vocation.
I am a native of this great state as well as Jefferson County (Go Farmers!) and currently live in Northwest Denver in a 1904 home. One of my favorite hobbies is to create! I am very creative and artistic so crafting and the arts is a favorite pastime. My current favorite art form is dot art creating beautiful mandalas with paint and dotting tools. Mosaics is another favorite love, and I also enjoy pencil drawing, flower pressing, crocheting, and jewelry making. Other time occupiers are antiquing, gardening, reading, traveling, theater/concerts and cooking. I have no children of my own, therefore, you have to share yours with me... but just for a year. Rest assured, they will be loved in their home-away-from-home 3rd grade “family.” In return we will all feel the ONE LOVE that Bob Marely sings of, and know that "Every little thing is gonna be alright!"

Mr. Turner
Hello! My name is Paul Turner and I am so excited to work with your student this year! We have so much to look forward to this year - I can hardly wait! We have such a wonderful journey ahead of us, full of opportunities to explore, grow, and learn alongside each other. There are a variety of ways to contact me but my preferred method is email. I am thrilled to be starting my ninth year as part of the wonderful staff here at Green Gables. I have a passion for teaching and look forward to digging into our third grade content.
I was born in Washington State but moved to colorful Colorado when I was seven and instantly fell in love with the state. I have been here ever since. I went to high school in Littleton and have spent my life in the Denver Metro Area. I have a love for the outdoors and I achieved my Eagle Scout Rank in Boy Scouts. Along with my love of being outdoors I love spending time on the golf course and at sporting events! I have my BA from Colorado Christian University in Elementary Education and my masters from Regis University. Over the summer I enjoyed spending quality time with my 2 year old son Ezra, dog named Murphy and wife Kelsey as we enjoyed the Colorado summer!
I currently live in Littleton, and love the Southern Gables area. I enjoy reading, golf, movies, traveling and spending time with my family. I'm also addicted to any and all coffee. I hope that everyone had a fantastic summer, made some wonderful memories, and is ready to dive into our learning journey! I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you better.
Sincerely,
Paul Turner
