My final project is a video series titled "High Press, High Stakes". The title is an ode to the team's play style of a high press in order to win possession quickly. There are 5 episodes, and each one has a different topic to cover. The first episode is an introduction to the video series where I give a brief overview of what I plan to do with the series. The second episode covers the differences in results for when the Red Bulls played Inter Miami. The third episode covers rivalry games with high scoring results such as the games against the New England Revolution, Toronto FC, and DC United. The fourth episode covers the beginning of the Red Bull's 2024 playoff run, which was games against the Columbus Crew, NYCFC, and Orlando FC. The fifth and final episode is about the MLS Cup Final against the LA Galaxy.
Episode 1 - Intro
In this episode I began by giving a background on the Red Bulls. I mentioned their coaching history and their team history since they were founded in 1996. I then gave brief overviews of the games covered in the next 4 episodes.
Episode 2 - The Miami Games
In this episode I highlighted the two games where the Red Bulls faced Inter Miami in the 2024 season. The one thing that stood out the most was the impact Lionel Messi had for Miami. In the first game (without Messi) the final was Red Bulls 4-0 Miami, and the second game (with Messi) the final was Red Bulls 2-6 Miami, with Messi contributing to all 6 goals.
Episode 3 - Rivalries
In this episode I highlighted 4 of the Red Bulls' rivalry games from the 2024 season. I specifically chose games with high scoring results such as: Red Bulls 1-5 NYCFC, Red Bulls 4-1 Toronto, Red Bulls 4-2 New England, and Red Bulls 4-1 DC United
Episode 4 - MLS Cup Playoffs
In this episode I covered the unexpected playoff run that the Red Bulls made. They were ranked 7th out of 9 teams in the east, and they had a tough run if they wanted to make it far. They beat the defending champions, the Columbus Crew, in the first round. Then, they faced NYCFC who had already beaten them twice this season. Then, they faced Orlando City SC and won the game to win the eastern conference.
Episode 5 - MLS Cup Final
In this final episode I discussed the MLS Cup Final in which the Red Bulls lost 1-2 to the LA Galaxy. I highlighted the loss of key defender Andres Reyes just before the game started. Both LA Galaxy goals could have been prevented if he had been able to play.
