Over the course of this year, I accomplished many things. I had a visit to a waste-to-energy power plant, I learned how to code in HTML and CSS, and I also used this learning to code a website. To be honest I didn’t learn a ton about myself. I had a very narrow goal to start with and kept at it until I finished. If I could redo this project, I would try to come to a better compromise with how I can manage my time for learning how to code and doing what they thought the course should look like. There should've been more communication but I didn’t speak up for the whole process that I saw in my mind.
There weren’t too many things that would represent something out of my comfort zone. A lot of things seemed like inconveniences but in the end did help add some substance to my overall project. At the start my project was different than intended, I wanted to keep it simple by coding a stellar website with some research on good practices with each type. I was redirected into going into something more complex so I choose to look into the improvement of Material Recovery Facilities. This led to me finding that Ai paired with robotics could streamline the process. It was hard to know that I was going away from what I was really passionate about and researching for information that was scarce. This led to me getting off-topic at times and not really getting into the project. One thing was finding prices for everything, which I was never able to find. I would contact small startup organizations, because there wasn’t anything large-scale for this topic, and they wouldn't give me theoretical prices. However, spending the majority of the year on this led me to have very minimal time to code the website that I dreamed of doing at the start. This led me to create a pretty decent website on everything instead of a perfect one on what I originally wanted. Another problem with this is that I started the coding at the start of the year and then got cut off, while still being new to the language I almost completely forgot how to code it. This made it so I had to relearn everything I’d have already taught myself taking up even more time. Overall though, I am alright with how the project turned out, it's just way below the standard that I initially hoped for. Like I said before, if I communicated better I think I would’ve been able to negotiate a better deal on my end.
