Hydration

60% of the body is made up of water. Drinking 6 - 8 glasses is recommended everyday. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and curb snacking!

Benefits to keeping hydrated:

  • Prevent dry mouth / bad breath

  • Promotes & cleanse the body (clear skin, healthy muscles & joints)

  • Maximize your workouts (increase motivation & energy, decrease fatigue)

  • Healthy brain function (prevent headaches, increases focus & concentration, better mood)

  • Helps with weight loss (boost metabolism, keeps you full)

How to tell if you may be dehydrated RIGHT NOW using the nail capillary refill test:

When your nail bed is pinched, it blanches or whitens. This happens because blood is forced out. Normally, blood returns in 2 seconds or less. If you’re dehydrated it may take longer for the area to return to a pink shade.

To perform the test:

1. Hold the testing hand above your heart.

2. Press your nail bed until it turns white.

3. Release the pressure.

4. Count how many seconds it takes for the color to return to your nail bed.

Some helpful tips:

  • Home Workout - No Equipments is an app that shows you how to do home workouts with no equipment.

  • Try different water flavorings & teas to keep things interesting.

  • Keep ice stocked in your freezer for refreshing icy, cold drinks.
