Acts of Change is when our entire community comes together to recognize JCUA as Chicago's Jewish voice for social justice. Featuring music, keynote speakers, and special guests, we will celebrate our recent victories and recommit to the work of transforming Chicago into a place that takes care of all its residents.
Each year we present the Rabbi Robert J. Marx Award for Social Justice to a leader who embodies the values JCUA founder Rabbi Marx lives and teaches. We are thrilled to announce we are presenting this year’s award to Heather McGhee — author, political strategist, changemaker, and leading voice for social justice.

The Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA) works to transform Chicago into a city free of poverty, racism and antisemitism by mobilizing the Jewish community to be a powerful voice for economic and racial justice. For 57 years, we have worked in partnership with diverse coalitions to address the root causes of disparity and advocate for concrete improvements in people’s lives.
