Live Lesson Experience

The JCT Mathematics Team are pleased to present an interactive workshop which aims to develop strategies for teaching and learning in Junior Cycle Mathematics by examining mathematical tasks and lesson design. The workshop is based around a Live Lesson Experience which provides an opportunity to implement the lesson planned by teachers in real time.

There are three elements to this elective CPD:

Element One: Pre-Event

  • Teachers will be asked to engage with some material in advance of the Zoom workshop. This material aims to support the intended learning of this pilot workshop. This material can be found under the tab for Pre-Event Materials and can be completed at any time in advance of the Zoom workshop.

Element Two: Live Lesson Experience

  • Teachers will be asked to participate in a Zoom workshop. The workshop will be an interactive and dynamic examination of mathematical tasks and lesson design. A hands-on approach is to be expected! An element of this workshop will involve the (remote) live-teaching of a class of 1st year students. We would ask that all participants be punctual and committed to the schedule for the workshop to facilitate these students.

Element Three: Post-Event

  • There will be a follow up reflective piece that we would ask all participants to engage with. This is an essential part of the process for participants in this pilot workshop. The material for this element of the CPD can be found under the tab for Post-Event Reflection.
