Long Way Down

SUMMARY: In Long Way Down, The Ghosts Of Gun Violence Chill A Plan For Revenge Jason Reynolds' new book follows a 15-year-old who must make a crucial decision after the murder of his brother, all in the time it takes for an elevator to travel 60 seconds to the ground floor.

Macbeth

SUMMARY: Three witches tell the Scottish general Macbeth that he will be King of Scotland. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth kills the king, becomes the new king, and kills more people out of paranoia. Civil war erupts to overthrow Macbeth, resulting in more death.

Crossover

SUMMARY: The Crossover is a story of family, love, dedication, and loss. It is about growing up and becoming a teenager, and all the trials and tribulations that go along with it. Readers will absolutely love the format of the writing, getting to know the characters, and the flow of Alexander's verse.

The Hunger Games

SUMMARY: In what was once North America, the Capitol of Panem maintains its hold on its 12 districts by forcing them each to select a boy and a girl, called Tributes, to compete in a nationally televised event called the Hunger Games. Every citizen must watch as the youths fight to the death until only one remains. District 12 Tribute Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has little to rely on, other than her hunting skills and sharp instincts, in an arena where she must weigh survival against love.

The Outsiders

SUMMARY: The Outsiders is about two weeks in the life of a 14-year-old boy. The novel tells the story of Ponyboy Curtis and his struggles with right and wrong in a society in which he believes that he is an outsider.

Scythe

SUMMARY: Scythe is a dystopian young adult novel by Neal Shusterman, and it tells the tale of a futuristic society in which all forms of death have been eradicated, and the only way a human can die is by being 'gleaned', a word which is synonymous with murder.

The Tale Tell Heart

SUMMARY: It follows an unnamed, unreliable narrator who insists on his sanity after murdering an old man with a "vulture eye". The murder is carefully calculated, and the murderer hides the body by cutting it into pieces and hiding it under the floorboards.

I AM MALALA

SUMMARY: I AM MALALA is the remarkable tale of a family uprooted by global terrorism, of the fight for girls' education, of a father who, himself a school owner, championed and encouraged his daughter to write and attend school, and of brave parents who have a fierce love for their daughter in a society that prizes sons.

Harry Potter

SUMMARY: It is a story about Harry Potter, an orphan brought up by his aunt and uncle because his parents were killed when he was a baby. Harry is unloved by his uncle and aunt but everything changes when he is invited to join Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and he finds out he's a wizard.

Star Girl

SUMMARY: Stargirl is a novel about a girl who attends high school for the first time after being homeschooled her whole life. Stargirl is new and different and doesn't quite fit in with her peers who watch her, speculate about her, intimidate her, and even shun her.

Eragon

SUMMARY: The book tells the story of a farm boy named Eragon, who finds a mysterious stone in the mountains. The stone is revealed to be a dragon egg, and a dragon he later names Saphira hatches from it.


The Fault in Our Stars

SUMMARY: The Fault In Our Stars is a fabulous book about a young teenage girl who has been diagnosed with lung cancer and attends a cancer support group. Hazel is 16 and is reluctant to go to the support group, but she soon realises that it was a good idea.


Matched

SUMMARY: Seventeen-year-old Cassia Reyes lives in a futuristic, seemingly utopian world in which the citizens' lives are strictly controlled by the government called "The Society." At the age of seventeen, citizens undergo the process of being "matched" or becoming paired up with another boy/girl selected by the sorters.


Eleanor & Park

SUMMARY: Eleanor, the new girl in town, is heavier than average and struggles with a bad home life. Park, a gloomy half-Korean comic book-lover, is just figuring his life and himself out. As they dive head-on into an unplanned, unfathomable first love, their lives begin to crack and crumble.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

SUMMARY: To All the Boys I've Loved Before is a teen romance novel about young Lara Jean, a high school daydreamer who writes love letters to the boys she has crushes on. She never sends out the letters though, they're just for her to write so she can let out her feelings and move on from her crush.



We Are Okay

SUMMARY: We Are Okay is the story of a college freshman named Marin who has left behind everything and everyone from her old life after the sudden death of her grandfather. Her best friend, Mabel, is determined to reconnect with her and arrives for a visit as Marin is spending the winter break alone in her dorm.


The Selection

SUMMARY: A group of impoverished girls compete for a chance to live amongst the wealthy, where a rebellion is brewing. For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering crowns and priceless jewels.
