Originally from Wisconsin, I earned my BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from UW-Whitewater, followed by an MA in Professional Communications and licensure in Theatre Education at ETSU. Throughout my career, I’ve taught a wide range of subjects, including Intro to Theatre, Acting, Directing, Musical Theatre, Makeup, Tech Theatre, English, Speech, Forensics, Digital Media, and Computer Science. I’m currently pursuing my SPED endorsement through UT-Knoxville and recently completed my Computer Science endorsement via the Tennessee Department of Ed’s pilot program.
Beyond the classroom, I lead the LBMS Patriot Players Theatre Club and provide logistical and technical support for events in the theatre. I also mentor new teachers and serve as a Technology Teacher Leader for Johnson City Schools.
My teaching journey began as a part-time teacher in middle school, where I discovered my passion for teaching and learning with my students. I’ve served as the Director of Education for a regional theatre and taught theatre at University School, where I initiated the forensics program. My experiences at Dobyns-Bennett High School and The Prairie School include coaching award-winning productions and leading student trips to New York and London.
I’ve received numerous accolades, including directing and coaching awards, as well as State Championship titles in both TN and WI. Additionally, I’ve mentored student teachers and taught Theatre Methods to aspiring educators through ETSU, UW-Parkside, and Cardinal Stritch University, and I’ve served as an adjunct professor at Virginia Intermont College, Cardinal Stritch University (WI), and Neosho County Community College (KS).
In my free time, I enjoy creative pursuits like making artisan marshmallows and crafting with my Cricut. My family and I live in Johnson City with our beloved pets.
I look forward to working with amazing students like you on this exciting educational journey!
