A Rapid Multi-Objective Optimization Scheme for Passive Components Design

For the solving of multi-objective electromagnetic problems, heuristic algorithms and surrogate-assisted models are widely utilized. However, most of the existing optimization schemes are not efficient when optimizing different performance parameters of a passive component. This is caused by the high computational cost of EM simulations and the lack of universal parametric models. To address this problem, a rapid optimization scheme based on surrogate-assisted parametric models is proposed. Different from traditional surrogate-assisted models, the proposed model is utilized for mapping from design parameters to characteristic coefficients of the parametric models. In this way, the performance with regard to different design parameters can be predicted. With the proposed model, the optimization scheme is implemented by a model-search-valid iteration. The proposed scheme has been validated on different passive components including circuits and antennas. The experimental results indicate that performance parameters of a circuit/antenna can be simultaneously optimized with high efficiency. Compared with relevant works, the proposed scheme shows a remarkable improvement in both optimization speed and solution quality. The total time cost is significantly reduced compared with the state-of-arts work.
