Global Collaborations

Invitation to Collaborate and exchange ideas!

A Global art/culture exchange forum for High School Students

After my training in 2017 with the Teachers for Global Classrooms Program, I wanted to find ways to collaborate with other classrooms across the US and around the world! If you would like to collaborate together please contact me at jritchey@jefcoed.com. We can work together to arrange a classroom video conference connecting our students. We could share vlogs, share artwork, presentations or images here on this website or on your own school website to view and comment on each other's work. We would love to have feedback from your students !

Here are a few examples of project based learning ideas to choose from that we could collaborate on together in the classroom (High School level)

1. "TAKE ACTION" Projects: Submission of artwork or any visual presentation (collage, sketches, videos/vlog or slide presentations) in response to global issues/social justice such as "IN DARFUR", our collaborative school wide Global Awareness project completed in January 2017. We would be happy to share images and interdisciplinary lesson plan ideas and student response to IN DARFUR, focusing on the issue of genocide

2. "Global" Portraits: Students can draw their own self portraits realistically including their favorite clothing and maybe including some of their interests in the background (music, quotes, words, scenery, pets, etc), or students could research other countries and imagine themselves as a citizen of another country. They can depict themselves as they would imagine as a citizen of this other country. In the background, include imagery or landmarks of this new country. What clothing would you wear? How would the hairstyle be different? A dialogue can be generated about avoiding stereotypes through research of their chosen country as it is today. What is traditional, and what is modern? What has changed?

3. "Our culture, your culture" or "Daily Life"--any visual format that can be uploaded which includes examples of things from your daily life. What are your favorite foods, sports, tv shows, movies, music, artists, games? What does your neighborhood look like, how is the weather where you live? What is your favorite place to visit? We can share videos, presentations, photo collages, etc.
