Our Journey in Jubilee
In the face of all the challenges we encountered during the years we spent in Jubilee Christian Academy, we have cultivated self-discipline and love for one another. Our legacy is illustrated through 2 Timothy 1:7: "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline."

One of my most memorable experiences in Jubilee would be my stay in the intensive class. Here, I stressed out a lot and experienced failure for the first time. Together with my classmates, we experienced hardships, but we still tried our best to help one another out. Through that, the class was able to form a bond and quickly became comfortable with one another— we became one big family.
Another memorable moment would be Intramurals, wherein we got the chance to work together with one another to form a dance and to practice this. Even though most of us didn’t enjoy dancing, it was still fun since we were in it together. We shared a fair amount of laughs— mainly because of the ridiculous dance moves— during our practice sessions every year.

One of the best memories I had in my years in Jubilee would have to be my first (online) chess tournament win. I could still remember how much I prepared for that tournament and how much anxiety I felt about it. The morning of the competition, I even woke up extremely early and drank two cups of coffee just to ensure alertness and readiness. When the first match started, my nervousness unfortunately got the best of me. Though I started out rather well— I was up a few chess pieces— I ended up blundering a piece. The game ended in a draw. Regardless, I did not let that discourage me. I strived in my next matches and made sure to keep my focus. This eventually led me to first place in the tournament! This tournament is not only hallmarked by anxiety and nervousness, but also the sense of accomplishment and sheer happiness I felt. This day is one I know I will never forget.

Some of my most memorable experiences in Jubilee would be the classroom shenanigans, good and bad group works, and waves of mental strain. I always enjoyed when the class would joke around, especially when the teachers would go along with the jokes as well because they bring breaths of fresh air to our stressful times. While we all prefer to have good group work experiences and good group mates because of the positive outputs made, the bad experiences, looking back at it, made school life somewhat interesting as well. Although it was not enjoyable, the times when there’s extra weight on our shoulders as students were very memorable. It’s always the week or two before quarter exams when it’s the most stressful and draining, but the relief of getting through it is always fruitful.

My most memorable and exciting but challenging moment in Jubilee Christian Academy was when I won the championship for PCYAA in the basketball aspirants division back in 2019. This was a moment I will never forget as it brought me so much joy to be able to win with my team in the tournament that meant so much to us. However, it was definitely challenging as well, since I had to fight through the pain and fatigue to be able to gain victory alongside my team. Nonetheless, it was still a fond memory because of the excitement each game brought and how thrilling it was to come out on top.

Studying at Jubilee has helped me to improve my time management, taught me to stay calm even in stressful situations, and helped me to work well in a team. Teachers tend to give a lot of exams and assignments, especially near the end of the quarter, so learning how to juggle all my priorities taught me how to manage my time and choose the best learning environment to maximize my efficiency. The amount of work given also taught me to stay calm under pressure because I realized I gained more from doing tasks instead of complaining about them. Lastly, I learned to work in a team because most of our projects require constant collaboration. If I couldn’t adapt to working with others, I would lack time to finish all my other work. As such, I learned how to delegate tasks and set internal deadlines.

I think that my years in Jubilee have made me disciplined and proactive. Since I was young, I have been obedient and studious. Although my peers, parents, teachers, and tutors did pressure me, their expectations also supported me to be disciplined, perseverant, and hardworking. Additionally, I joined various extracurricular activities to explore my talents, expose myself to different experiences, and prepare myself for college. As a result, I am more proactive and ready to take on new challenges.

I think staying in Jubilee has really built my character and allowed me to grow as a person in a lot of ways. I have learned the importance of time management in being able to accomplish both academic and extracurricular activities. I think that the people I have met along the way have all taught me valuable lessons that I will continue to apply in my life, such as the importance of being understanding towards others and always giving people the benefit of the doubt. To add, I think that I was further able to maximize the usage of technological advancements to accomplish school work, making me much more efficient in accomplishing my tasks. Academics-wise, I can also say that the school has helped me reach the full potential of my capabilities due to the opportunities they always present to us as well as the recent more hands-on form of assessments and outputs.

Studying and staying in Jubilee for years has greatly impacted and changed myself as an individual in a positive way. The amount of workload given has taught me to better manage my time, and the school's focus on courses like Math and Science has also allowed me to handle pressure better and has strengthened my mind to think in a much more complex manner. Aside from academics, the school has encouraged me to try new extracurricular activities and step outside of my comfort zone. Having the opportunity to join the student council and the badminton varsity team has enhanced several areas of my personality, such as the varsity training having aided in my continued fitness, and the student council having given me the opportunity to interact with students from other batches. By providing a top-notch education through both academics and extracurricular activities, Jubilee was able to shape me into a person that people can look up to.

I am most proud of the fact that our batchmates are creative and hold themselves to high standards. Many of them are artistic or talented in unique fields such as music, art, or sports, which is why everyone can contribute to batch-related activities such as dancing in our Intramurals performances, managing the Foundation Day booths, and working on our graduation projects. What’s more, a lot of us never settle for less, whether it be in our academics or extracurriculars. Everyone puts effort into maintaining their grades and contributing to various clubs like the Student Council, varsity teams, and academic training. I admire all these characteristics of our batch and hope that we can continue to be achievers for God’s glory.

For me, I think that the unique quality of our batch that I’m most proud of would be our competitiveness. Sure, being competitive may have been a double-edged sword at times, but I think that overall, the pressure from my batchmates helped me form a “hungrier” mindset and motivated me to do my best. I’ve always been indifferent about schoolwork, which is why I didn’t work so hard back in elementary. However, entering high school’s competitive intensive section has definitely helped me grow as a person because my peers encouraged me to give my all in everything I do.

There are several qualities in my batch that I am truly proud of, one of which is the ability to deeply understand one another. Although misunderstandings and fights can happen as they are natural occurrences, our batch has always managed to patch things up and stay unified until the very end. Moreover, I believe our batch is very mature and responsible. Although we spent two years in our houses due to the pandemic, I think the experience has helped mold ourselves into more mature individuals. I personally witnessed how my batchmates matured, and that is what makes me proud. Lastly, I am very pleased to see my batchmates being so hardworking. A lot of them are high achievers, and though they always strive for excellence, they also make sure to lend a helping hand to their batchmates. Overall, I am quite proud of how the whole batch works as a team.

In my batch, I think our competitive spirit is what sets us apart from other batches. I believe that one of the things people will remember about us is our ability to push not only ourselves but also those around us to perform better, which has become the defining trait of our batch. My batchmates have always shown their willingness to excel both within and outside of the school. Not only that, but the commitment and effort they put into everything is also a unique and admirable aspect that will definitely be recognized.

For the younger generation of students, especially the next graduating batch, I hope that you treasure your relationships with each other. Even when you graduate and part ways, you are all connected because you belong to the same batch. You must be proud of yourselves as individuals and as a collective group. Whatever challenges you face, remember that you are not alone because you have each other’s backs. Finally, not only will your fellow batchmates rely on you, but younger generations will also look up to you. Thus, represent your batch with pride, dignity, and honor.

If I could go back in time, I wish I would have realized sooner just how little time I had left before I leave for college. I would have tried harder to enjoy all the things I experienced during my time in high school, whether they brought me happiness or not. Now that I’m on my last few months in Jubilee, I wish that I could stay here for longer. Although I am excited to meet my future, a part of me does not want to leave the past because it means I will be leaving all that I’ve known for years. So, to the next graduating batch, just have fun and live in the moment. The past can never be relived. The future might never be the same as things once were, but no matter what happens, I’m sure that God has something special planned in store for you.

Find your people, earn their trust as they earn yours, and go attack life together. It is important to have good people around you, so you should be careful of how you pick your friends. Decide on your ambitions and tell it to your friends and if they support you, you are hanging with the right crowd. If any of you have bad habits, take care of one another and work towards that decision to stop if it is for the best. Your crowd depicts your character, therefore, based on your ambitions, make sure you are hanging with the right crowd.
Richard Lyonne U. Go (2023)
My advice for the younger generation of students—especially the following graduating class—is to keep in mind that we should not simply focus on what is happening in the present but also focus on what is best for us in the future. Indeed, we all want to enjoy our days at school, but we must also concentrate on tasks that will help us in the future rather than just what is right in front of us. Start completing your assignments and other tasks in advance to avoid stress, as procrastination isn't a good practice. It gets you nowhere. This holds true for carrying out your real-world tasks such as saving money, investing, and creating businesses.

My favorite activity in Jubilee would be doing photography and videography during school events. I would say that this is an activity that I really enjoy because this hobby of mine is not limited to school. I also think that it is one of the few things that I really excel at. Through this, I am able to document the feelings and emotions of people, which is significant to me and makes me happy. I hope that Jubilee will be able to develop this in the future.
Matthew Riley C. Raymundo (2023)
My favorite activity in Jubilee, in which I excel in, is emceeing. I started my hosting career back in Grade 10, starting out as a game host for class and then eventually the student council. By Grade 12, I was being asked to host school events of various sizes. I hosted Appreciation and Christmas day events, both of which had a rather large audience. To be honest, I’m a nervous person by nature, so I always struggled with public performances. By providing me with these opportunities, Jubilee has allowed me to overcome this weakness.

My favorite pastimes are arts and crafts, and I think I'm very good at them. I enjoy learning about arts and visiting groups such as arts and crafts, art therapy, and other similar groups. I believe that JCA’s Physical Education is the subject in which I thrive because I am a physically active person. In this subject, I learned several concepts and topics that involved physical activity, which I believe I am capable of performing well with proper instruction and training.

My favorite subject is music and my hobby is playing musical instruments. I took piano lessons when I was a child, and because of the influence of my relatives, I also learned how to play the guitar. This has given me the opportunity to be a guitarist in the praise and worship team at school in the past. I always strive for the glory of God each time I play an instrument.
