Our class have been studying a lot about different NZ music artists for NZ music month. One of the artists we studied was Filiva'a James, the lead singer for the Samoan heavy metal band "Shepherd's Reign". We are definitely happy to have had Filiva'a come in to share inspiring stories and show off his piano talents to our class. Malo Filiva'a - SAU IA!

We had an awesome time at the Auckland Zoo during Week 10 - a way where we could appreciate Papatuanuku and all she provides for our animals within the habitat they live in, as well as providing good food for our animals.Â
Nga mihi to our tumuaki Whaea Nardi, our team Matariki staff and our parents helpers who were able to help out on the day. Success!

This year we have 2 Year 2 trainee teachers from Manukau Institute of Technology, who will be with us for the rest of the year. They will be here for 4 weeks straight starting from Monday 17th March - Friday 11th April for their block practicum, then will return for 2 days per week till November. Aren't we just blessed!
We hope you enjoy this new journey with us!
We believe that all children are unique and have something special that they can add daily to their own education. We will assist our students to express themselves and accept themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the differences of others.Â
My name is Mrs Vaetoe. I am currently teaching in Learning Hub 1. This is my second year teaching at Jean Batten School and I have now been teaching for 15 years. I look forward to what 2025 will look like for our class.
