PBIS is our county-wide behavior monitoring system. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture all students need in order to achieve social, emotional and academic success. Through this system, students are encouraged to display positive behavior by being rewarded for making good decisions throughout the school day. Students may earn CANES Cash when they are displaying positive behavior. Some behaviors that we are looking for include being respectful, being responsible, and being ready to learn.
Students collect the CANES Cash they earn and then spend them at the CANES Store, where they will be able to purchase various items. Your child will keep his/her CANES Cash in a chart in the classroom. Students may choose whether to spend their CANES cash or save it for a bigger prize. Occasionally, we will have special events that students may attend if they pay the CANES cash "fee," meet certain attendance requirements, and maintain a given number of days on green. Information about these events will come home prior to the events.
