Using our terrarium we have been observing how the water cycle works. The students are excited every day to come in and see what changes have taken place overnight. Some mornings they notice that there is condensation on the sides of our jar, and other mornings they look for plant growth (we have some Venus Fly Traps planted inside of our terrarium).
Using our windowsill herb garden, and our small flower pots, we will be studying plant growth, discussing how plants help prevent soil erosion, and discussing how agriculture is a part of our everyday lives. We have growth charts to keep, picture webs to put together, and a farm to table game to play, that will all tie into our lessons!
We are studying the life cycle of the butterfly. We have done a few worksheets, and we are also keeping an observation journal and have watched, and documented, our tiny caterpillars grow into large caterpillars. Most of our caterpillars are currently hanging from the top of their cup, and we are anticipating they will form pupas soon!
To extend their STEAM experience, the students made Butterfly 3D puzzles!
