  • Do not give out personal information such as your address, phone number, date of birth, or other identifying information online. Do not give out anyone else's personal information without permission.

  • Exercise caution when you receive online messages or correspondence from unknown sources. Only enter passwords and personal information into secure, trusted sites.

  • Make profiles on social media sites private when you can, and be careful interacting with users you don't know personally.

  • Remember that anything you post, including photos and text, may be screenshotted, saved, and distributed without your knowledge or permission. Do not post anything that may have a negative impact on your future education and job prospects.

  • When in doubt about anything regarding online safety, please contact a trusted adult such as a teacher, parent, or your school librarian.
