Exciting news about Jain Academic Bowl - JAB Tournament 

Jain Academic Bowl (JAB), which is held during every JAINA Convention, is a fun, educational game style tournament, which allows the youths across North America enrich their knowledge in Jainism in a unique way. 

The JAB tournament has so far been a competition between teams from the Pathshala of various Jain centers.  To facilitate more young Jains be able to participate in JAB and enjoy learning about Jainism, we are excited to introduce the new "United Jain Center" team at the next JAB tournament during the JAINA Convention in 2025 at Chicago, IL. 

Teams under this center will include a participant who:

Is a Pathshala student of a Jain center of North America, but that center does not participate in JAB tournament. 

OR

Does not have accessibility to a Jain center Pathshala within a radius of 50 miles from their home.  

JAB is a great experience for all participants as it helps increase their knowledge of Jain Philosophy, Conduct, Rituals, Sutras, Revered Jain personalities, the Jain Way of Life, Jain History and Literature, and it also provides opportunity to forge new friendships with young Jains nationwide. In the end, every participant is a winner because of the immense knowledge they acquire and the fun that they have in this team competition.

This is a unique opportunity for youths who are otherwise unable to compete in JAB tournaments. There will be a limited number of teams in the United Jain center and will include participants residing nationwide. Selection is based upon reviewing the application and virtual testing of the participant. Participants will practice and prepare for the tournament virtually. Based on the response, the teams could compete in the Beginner, Junior, or Senior categories.

To join in the United Jain center team, following criteria will have to be met:

• Commitment from parents of the participant to volunteer during the virtual practice sessions and to appoint one coach from among them.

• Participants must satisfy the age limits and other team requirements as mentioned in the General rules of JAB Tournament.

• Participants will be required to attend all scheduled virtual practice sessions.

• Participants will be required to attend the JAB tournament in person during the JAINA Convention 2025.

The deadline to receive this application is May 15, 2024.

Virtual testing of the participants will be held between June 15, 2024, to June 25, 2024.
