The Student Occupational Therapy Association at the University of South Alabama is an organization dedicated to increasing awareness of the Occupational Therapy profession and the Association within both the campus and the community. The organization actively serves the community and campus, raises funds to support members’ professional and Association events, promotes social activities among members and non-members, and creates opportunities for professional development.
The purpose of the organization is to educate the public and other health professions about Occupational Therapy, while also developing and maintaining strong relationships between the Occupational Therapy Department, the community, and professional organizations. In addition, it seeks to provide mentorship opportunities and serve as an outlet for Occupational Therapy students.
Students are eligible for membership upon admission into the USA OT program. Membership dues are an annual fee of $30. Members are invited to join SASOTA at a welcome event for incoming students during the first week of the fall semester. Annual elections for Executive Board and Chairs are held in January of each year and positions take effect in April.
