Peer Helpers PLUS is a comprehensive, peer-to-peer prevention and support program. Our mission is to foster positive youth development by educating and empowering students with the essential character traits and skills needed to advocate for healthy choices, resolve conflicts, and cultivate positive peer relationships, enabling all students to succeed both academically and in life.

How are students selected?
Students are selected through WHS Faculty nominations and then complete an application process to receive training in key areas such as communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and making appropriate referrals. With these skills, Peer Helpers support their classmates in facing challenges like bullying, substance use, peer pressure, and family concerns. Their role encourages resilience, strengthens coping abilities, and promotes healthy life skills that can reduce the risk of youth suicide and support overall well-being.
Unlike programs that separate students into categories, Peer Helpers emphasizes that all individuals encounter pressures from society, family relationships, and personal health, and works to provide guidance and encouragement for everyone.
