What are the requirements to apply to Ignite?
Students interested in Ignite must:
be a senior and on track to graduate
be willing to comply with business ethics, attendance, and dress codes required by the Ignite director or business partners
have a desire to explore their career path by working in a real-world environment
embrace a growth mindset and exhibit professional traits
have a recommended GPA of 3.0 (also needed for dual credit classes)
have a recommended cumulative attendance of at least 95%
be involved in the high school experience through clubs, sports, etc
have a clean discipline record with no major incidents (physical altercations, excessive tardies, alcohol/drugs/vaping incidents, etc.)
have positive teacher recommendations from a teacher and a professional with no major concerns
* Interviews will take place after the application process ends. All students must interview with the coordinator of career learning, the high school principal, and a business/community member.
What type of credit can students earn for participating in Ignite?
Students can earn practical arts and embedded ELA credit required for graduation, plus an option for additional dual credits through SEMO, depending on the pathway and student choice.
Through their internships or apprenticeships, students will also have the potential to earn IRCs (industry-related credentials) or other certifications depending on career strand.
What does an Ignite student's schedule look like?
Students will be be in the morning session or afternoon session of Ignite. They will be enrolled in other required courses or electives the rest of the day.

Ignite career strands are determined based on interests of our students and the needs of our community or industries.
