JR2 Ignite CAPS is a profession-based program at Jackson High School that allows students to explore a variety of career options while learning industry-specific content, experience real-world projects, gain confidence in vital professional skills, and make connections that will benefit the future of the student, business, and community.

Ignite CAPS is a year-long, profession-based program for students exploring business pathways. In the first semester, students build professional skills, learn about the industry, connect with local businesses through site visits and guest speakers, collaborate on authentic projects, and prepare for internships. The second semester offers hands-on experience via microinternships, where students partner with professionals and work on real-world projects. By the end of the program, students gain a better understanding of their career path, polish professional and networking skills, and gain valuable industry connections.

During the second semester, students participate in multiple microinternships within the district, working alongside educators in various roles. This immersive experience allows students to collaborate with teachers, principals, and counselors, applying their knowledge to real-world situations. By the end of the program, students gain a better understanding of the career path, as well as knowledge and experience that will set them apart as they enter the career field.
