J-1 Tax offers a safe, simple program to help J-1 Summer Work Travel students get the documents they need to file their U.S. Tax Returns. What we do:
We file your tax extension for you.
This gives you up to six extra months to get and prepare the paperwork you need to file your U.S. tax return.
If you have not received or prepared your tax information, this helps reduce the chance of losing a tax refund or paying additional fees or penalties for filing late.
We setup mail forwarding from your old U.S. address to our address.
This can help prevent tax documents from being sent to your old U.S. address or getting sent to an incorrect foreign address, or taking too long to receive mail internationally.
We work to get your W-2s as soon as possible.
To do this, we start by contacting your previous employer for you and formally requesting your W-2s.
If you still do not receive your W-2s, we report this to the IRS and request that them to contact your employer directly.
If you still do not receive your W-2s, we try to get the information on your W-2s ourselves through a Transcript Delivery Service request.
Finally, if none of our methods work, we will help prepare an estimated tax form based on your paystubs or other information you may have.
