Iowa Valley Library Program Mission Statement
Check Out of Materials
Students will be able to check out books once a week at their classroom scheduled time.
Kindergarten can have one book checked out at one time.
First Grade - Second Grade students can have two books checked out at one time.
Third Grade – 6th Grade can have three books checked out at one time. One of these books must be a chapter book to have available for free reading time.
Library collections have a checkout period of 7 days. Library materials can be returned before its due date. When students return books, they may check out other items.
Overdue Materials
We ask that all library materials are returned on or before it due date to provide all students access to the library materials. Upon the event a book is overdue, that student will not be able to check out any more book over their allotted amount until the book(s) are returned or paid for a replacement.
At the end of the school year, if books are not returned, the student must pay for the replacement of the book.
If the book is found after payment has been made, your child's lunch account will be refunded.
Damaged Materials
Library materials that returned damaged beyond repair. Students/parents must pay a replacement cost for the item.
Selection and Reconsideration of Library Materials
The school library collection is managed by the teacher librarian and obtained to meet the needs of the school, which include curriculum and student interests. The library also contains a diverse collection on a range of topics.
Professional resources are taken into consideration when adding to the libraries collections with a range of high-quality materials. The district’s Instructional Materials Selection board policy guides the selection of material for the school library.
