Courses receiving additional grade weighting will include:
Advanced Placement (AP) courses;
Honors courses with a parallel regular course; and
College courses offered and/or accepted for dual-credit.
The course content of Advanced Placement and Honors courses will be broader in scope, greater in depth and more intellectually rigorous than that typically found in other classes. Advanced Placement and Honors courses will stress analytical skills and higher order thinking in addition to the mastery of basic skills. Specifically, courses will:
a. provide frequent experiences utilizing Bloom's higher level of learning
(analysis, synthesis, and evaluation)
b. provide regular experiences in problem solving and critical and/or divergent thinking
c. require research and/or independent study
An optional AP exam will be offered to students for an opportunity to earn college credit.
