Sr. Lecturer (Mechanical)
Welcome! I am Mahmudul Firoz, a Mechanical Engineer, Researcher, and Educator driven by a single question: How can we make energy generation cleaner and more efficient without compromising performance?
My journey began with a fascination for thermal systems, which led me to specialize in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Combustion Modeling. Currently, I serve as a Senior Lecturer at the World University of Bangladesh and a Graduate Research Assistant at IUT. My research primarily focuses on mitigating harmful emissions—specifically reducing NOx and SOx in large-scale power plants—using advanced simulations in ANSYS Fluent.
Beyond the equations and simulations, I am deeply committed to education and community building. Whether I am analyzing oxy-fuel combustion technologies or mentoring students in the lab, my goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical research and real-world application.
I am also a firm believer in the power of shared knowledge. As the administrator of HigherStudyAbroad - Global Hub of Bangladeshis, I have had the privilege of guiding a community of over 222,000 members, helping Bangladeshi students navigate global educational opportunities.
When I’m not running simulations or teaching, I am exploring green building technologies or working on community impact projects.
Reviewers for the journals of Combustion and Flame, Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, Combustion Science and Technology, Fuel, Energy & Fuels, etc.
