Librarian
Emily Knutson has been teaching for over 10 years, including as a high school ELA/Reading teacher in Minnesota, a preschool Spanish immersion teacher in Boston and six years as a teacher-librarian here at Plaza Vista. She is also the yearbook advisor and ELL Coordinator. She loves to read science fiction, historical fiction and biographies.

Julie Gaz has been involved with Plaza Vista for many years, as both of her children attended PV. She enjoys cooking, sporting events, and spending time with her extended family. She loves to read historical and realistic fiction, especially authors Ruta Sepetys and Neal Shusterman.

Menna McKenzie is originally from Wales, but her family now lives in the PV neighborhood. Both of her children also attended Plaza Vista. She loves her succulents, her kombucha and her two dogs. Author David Walliams once told her she was his favorite librarian. She loves to read realistic fiction and biographies about all types of people and issues.
Our library is staffed:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:55-3:05
Wednesday 7:55-1:30
Special middle school hours: 7:55-8:25 and during lunchtime
Elementary students check out books during weekly library time or with a pass
Middle School students may check out books before school, during snack/lunch or with a pass
Occasionally we are closed for meetings or special events
Our computer lab and table space are available by appointment
Our checkout policies vary by grade level:
TK and K may check out 1 book an keep it for 1 week. Students are limited to the easier fiction section.
1st graders may check out 2 books and keep them for 1 week. Students are limited to the easier fiction section.
2nd graders may check out 3 books and keep them for 1 week. Students are introduced to the fiction section (chapter books) after fall break.
3rd graders may check out up to 4 books and keep them for 1 week. Students are introduced to the non-fiction section.
4th graders and up may check out up to 5 books and keep them up to 3 weeks at a time. Students may check out from any section of the library, with the exception of the middle school only section, which is limited to grades 6-8 (unless parent permission is given in writing).
If a library book is lost or damaged beyond repair (including water damage), parents are expected to pay for the replacement cost of the book. We will provide a receipt of payment.
If a lost book is found and returned within six months, we will issue a refund.
Students with lost or overdue books are not permitted to check out until the book has been returned or the fine has been paid.
