Hall of Fame is meant to reward students who strive to maintain good work habits while demonstrating a positive classroom attitude. The criterion is not determined by academic scores, but rather by neatly completed assignments that are turned in on time. Additionally, good behavior both inside and outside the classroom is also a prerequisite.
All class work is to be completed here at school. Homework is assigned on a nightly basis. You are responsible for accurately writing down all of your homework assignments, AND taking home the necessary materials and books. You are also responsible for completing all your homework and returning it the next day. If it is not completed, you must sign the “Late Board” and make up your work during your recess or lunch period. If it is not turned in by the end of the day, you will receive “0” points for the assignment. Work not turned in because of an absence will be handled separately.
At the end of each month, a progress report or Hall of Fame Award will be given to you. If you receive a progress report, you must have your parent sign it that night and return in the next day. Each month begins a new Hall of Fame.

Behavior Chart
I wanted to give you a heads-up on the Hall of Fame slip in your child’s Northwood Folder, so that you can have a conversation with your child about their behaviors in class.
The first thing you should look at is the amount of clicks on their Behavior Chart. Each click is a time they have participated in class or had an “on-task” behavior. Another positive sign that your child is doing well in class is the amount of stickers your child has on their Behavior Chart. They receive one sticker per day for positive behaviors.
On the other hand, I want to communicate with the parents about behaviors that are distracting during class time. Your student will have an “X” on their chart if they were not following directions during class time. An “X” means that they were off task in the classroom either during instruction or independent work.
If your child has a ”NW” that means that he/she did not turn in their Northwood Folder on Friday morning.
“B” bathroom break. This means that your child needed to use the bathroom but did not have a pass.
If your child receives an “A” it means your child was absent.
If you see an “H” on their Hall of Fame it means that they did not turn in their homework on time. I broke down the days into colors for both behaviors and homework so that I can monitor when these behavior occur.
Each day represents a different color:
Monday- Purple
Tuesday- Blue
Wednesday-Orange
Thursday- Green
Friday-Red
Black-Group Effort
Please go over the behavior chart with your child at the end of each month to see how he/she is doing in class.
If you have any question please let me know during conference time.
Thanks again for all of your support,
Mr. McCauley
