ASB is an awesome leadership opportunity, where you get to let your creativity shine, develop teamwork skills, and be leaders and supporters of your school. You can gain service hours, make new friends, and you get to have an epic 8th grade year, making the school a better place for yourself, and your peers! Throughout the year, you will get to plan spirit days, lunch time activities, parties, advisement competitions, create posters, and so much more!
(PS: Sometimes there's free food!)
ASB is lots of fun, but it is also a lot of hard work and dedication, and if you want to focus on other activities, that's ok! Also, if you are turned down from the position of officer, you can always send in a cabinet application when they open. Officers need to have strong leadership skills, be open to ideas, and be able to lead a team. They want to make a change, be able to dedicate time and energy to ASB, keep their grades high, care for the student body, and stay organized. Do these traits and qualities sound like you? If you're interested, fill out an application for the officer position that suits you best! Are you still interested and feel like you meet most of these traits, but don't want to be stuck in one position? Later in the year, when applications for cabinet open, apply for a position in the ASB cabinet!
There are approximately 25 cabinet members each year, and each member of the cabinet is a representative for an advisement. On days where there is a spirit day, fundraiser, candy grams or birthdays to give out, or anything else to do with an advisement, representatives will go to their respective advisement, take care of whatever is needed that day. During 6th period (ASB), they will work in committees headed by their officers to plan or create a variety of things including spirit days and posters. A great part of being in ASB cabinet is that they get to work in all five committees! They
