VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer Tutors/Substitute Tutors

This is the most rewarding way to get involved at the FCLC; however, it does come with a commitment of about 5-6 hours a week. This position also requires initial and ongoing training so that we can provide the best service for our students that we can (PA Dept of Education requires it). See our “How to Become a Tutor or Volunteer” page and video for more information.

Co-Tutors/ Classroom Aides

Co-Tutors and Classroom Aides can work in either a tutor group or as an assistant to a larger group with an instructor. A high school diploma (or equivalency) is required for this position.

Advisory Board Members/Committee Members

Advisory board members assist with community outreach, public awareness, fundraising planning and events, and much more. Members would need to be available for monthly board meetings and be willing to support FCLC efforts in the community.

Community Class Instructor or Presenter

Our goal is to help not only our clients, but the Franklin County Community as a whole. People who would like to get involved in instructing short term community projects (ex. Teaching monthly basic computer and internet skills, teaching job interviewing or life skills seminars, etc.) would only need a H.S. diploma and a working knowledge of the subject they are seeking to assist us with.

ESL/ELL Conversation Group Mediator

Those interested in supporting students and community members who want to practice and improve their English speaking abilities only need a High School diploma and 2 free hours per week.
