About me

My name is William Thurin and I am currently a Junior at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. I am a student-athlete in the School of Health and Human Sciences, pursing a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, on the pre-physical therapy track with a certificate of nutrition. Throughout my educational career in both high school and now college, I have invested my free time into athletics. Through athletics I have gained interest in the functions and mobility of the body. Being around other athletes, I have witnessed and experienced numerous injuries that have given me insight on how to treat and rehabilitate the body. Through athletics and working part time as a PT rehab Aide, I have developed a passion to help others find balance within their body. IUPUI is a campus surrounded by three hospitals and the state's capital, the opportunities are endless.

Personal summary

I owe all of my attributes and achievements to those around me. My peers, family, and coach have instilled important morals that I continue to live by throughout college. I live by the moto "work for the next day". Crafting my personal, academic, and athletic work ethics has driven me to become the best version of myself. My academic and athletic pursuits began in the Penn-Harris-Madison school corporation in which I attended elementary through high school. When deciding what college I wanted to attend I went to my coach, parents, and siblings for advice. However, with no bias involved... my coach, father and siblings who are alumni or currently attending Indiana University programs pushed me towards a degree from Indiana. From their experience in Indiana University programs, I researched more into IUPUI where I decided to continue my higher education. This would also give me the ability to continue my athlete pursuits on the tennis team. At IUPUI I was able to get involved in the IUPUI honors program where they offer various ways to extend academics in and beyond the classroom through honors courses, studying abroad, and community involvement. Over my years of undergraduate studies, I have excelled not only on the court, but in the classroom, achieving the IUPUI top 100 students award. Furthermore, Indiana University's physical therapy program is stationed in Indianapolis alongside IUPUI. This would give me the opportunity to obtain my undergraduate degree in exercise science and certificate of nutrition in hopes of attending Indiana University's physical therapy graduate program all in Indianapolis. After researching the location, academics, and athletics I decided IUPUI was the best fit for me and my goals.
