St. Coman's Cemetery

Upon arriving at the cemetery, mourners discovered that police officers had surrounded the gravesite. Another group of police officers, dressed in riot gear and carrying shields, stood back from the mourners, but ready. The presence of the police officers at the gravesite and among the mourners was considered a provocative affront to family and friends who wanted to pay their respects. Their presence also made it difficult for the funeral to continue. As the pall bearers carefully carried the coffin, mourners demanded that the police step back and there were brief clashes with the riot squad.

The crowd confronts the police.

The riot squad raises their shields and start to move in.

There was a brief confrontation, but no arrests were made, however. Instead, marshals and the crowd turn their backs to the police. The police officers withdrew from the gravesite but remained interspersed among the crowd, and the riot squad withdrew.
