Researcher in AI-Enhanced Language Learning and Instructional Design
I am a Senior Lecturer at Indiana University’s Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies. My research explores the intersection of second language acquisition, instructional design, and emerging technologies—particularly Generative AI—to create more equitable, immersive, and adaptive learning environments. I investigate how AI-driven tools can enhance second language learning through personalized feedback, adaptive curriculum pathways, and expanded access for a broader range of learners.Through the integration of AI and digital pedagogy, I aim to bridge gaps in learner engagement, curriculum design, and assessment strategies.
To deepen my expertise in instructional design and technology-enhanced learning, I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Instructional Systems Technology at Indiana University, Bloomington. This advanced study allows me to further explore the pedagogical applications of AI, human-AI collaboration in education, and the development of adaptive learning environments that enhance language acquisition.
In addition to my work with AI in education, I am deeply engaged in research on STEM-integrated language pedagogy, and strategies for student recruitment, enrollment, and retention in higher education language programs and online second language education. My scholarship examines how instructional technologies, telecollaboration, and interdisciplinary approaches can enhance second language learning outcomes. I also contribute to policy discussions on sustaining Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs) in postsecondary education, advocating for evidence-based curricular innovations.
