JLN is a scholarship that is awarded to students who have made exceptional progress in their first few semesters in college. Through JLN, sophomores and juniors find the financial support to continue their education at IUPUI while also developing as community leaders and future professionals. The two-year program allows for the development of academic skills, leadership, and later pursuit of engaged learning opportunities. For my engaged learning experience, I had the opportunity to pursue an internship at Riley's Children Hospital via the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program (LHSI) on campus.

The JLN Experience
The JLN Experience
I'm passionate in social justice, humanitarian work, patient care, and medical research. These are all essential components to healthcare. I hope to graduate with my degree in health sciences in the coming year, and later pursue a master's degree in physician's assistant studies (PA). Health sciences is an amazing background to have as any healthcare provider. My coursework focuses in health promotion and disease prevention, as well as training in medical ethics and insight into healthcare disparities. It will prepare me for healthcare jobs that require interaction with diverse patient populations. In the past, I have always wanted to specialize in general pediatrics but my internship with LHSI opened a whole new world of specializations to me.
