Hello, I'm Phillip, my pronouns are He/Him/His.Â
My major is Biomedical Engineering, with a depth area in Biomaterials & Tissue Engineering. I am in BME since I want to help in medical care but do not want to be the one providing care in a patient-facing role. After completing undergraduate education, I may apply for graduate school/research; while progressing through the internship, I am certain that I will apply for graduate school. I have narrowed down the graduate programs that I will apply for: Purdue University in Indianapolis's MS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Pharmaceutical Engineering. I am also working towards a minor in Japanese Studies.
My internship site is Dr. Walker's lab, in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Comprehensive Care at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Walker's lab focuses on understanding tissue pathology and therapeutic repair in nervous system diseases and injuries.
Primary research areas include strategies to promote neural regeneration, neuron survival, and improved functional outcomes for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's Disease) and peripheral nerve injury.
