Katrina Buehrer and Kelli Davis have been collaborating on writing about the other's researched topic. In each author bio, information about the author's schooling, their purpose for choosing their topic, and their thoughts about the collaboration may be found.
My name is Katrina Buehrer. I am a 3rd year undergraduate Biology major, pre-PA. After I receive by Bachelor’s, I plan on applying to physician assistant programs, and hopefully become a PA within the next 3 years. After becoming a PA, I plan on working in a clinic setting specializing in dermatology.
I was interested in writing about neurodegenerative diseases when I was introduced to them during my shadowing of a neuro-PA. It sparked my interest because I did not have much knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases. I wanted to expand my knowledge to include more than just what I am passionate about.
The collaboration went very well, and we were each able to share our ideas on the website easily without judgment. I hope that this website was able to share some light on preventative care or treatment for neurodegenerative diseases.
That is me! (left)

For my role in Writing in the Sciences, I did research on the factors of lifestyle, genetics, and prevention that contribute to the development of Dementia.
Through the collaboration project, I research ALS and its prevention and treatment. Together we're looking for a connection between ALS and Dementia and their prevention and treatment.
I am a third-year health sciences student, and after undergrad, I plan to get a master's in health informatics. I plan to use health and data to find patterns and improve health outcomes.
