About Me

I am a biology major, and I am a pre-medicine student. I chose my major because I loved biology in high school and am excited to continue pursuing it for my undergraduate degree!

Work Experience

One of my most defining work experiences was my position as a patient care technician (PCT) at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. I absolutely loved this job and never got tired of it - not even by the end of my 13 hour shifts! I learned so much about medicine, and it reinforced my passion for the field. My variety of other jobs as a seasonal pollinator in a corn field, retail sales associate, and animal care technician have all helped me develop a strong work ethic and a variety of skills. The retail and the animal care technician roles helped me by giving me experience in two career interests - veterinary medicine and fashion merchandising - and showing me that they were not good fits for me. However, I still made the best of these experiences by enjoying them at the fullest extent possible and learning transferrable skills like time management, team communication, and independent work competency.

Strengths, Skills, and Weaknesses

One of my biggest strengths is my charisma. I am very extroverted, I love meeting new people, and I especially love being part of a team. I still enjoy working independently and having my own responsibilities, but I especially thrive in work environments with a balance between independent work/learning and collaborative effort. I do feel a certain downside comes from my social nature - it is easy for me to become sidetracked! It is hard for me to say no to a good conversation or a way to connect with someone. I also am generally a forgetful person, so I have had to learn memory tricks and find ways to set reminders, such as carrying around a notepad in the workplace.

This is a photo of me during my work as a patient care technician for Deaconess Gateway Hospital. I was wearing what is called a PAPR hood and full personal protective equipment - the protocol for entering the room of a patient with COVID 19. I do not have any photos from other work experiences, but to the right are the logos of the Red Woof Lodge and Style Encore, which are two business I was previously employed at.
