I am a May, Indiana University of Indianapolis graduate with a double major in Biology and Psychology. In my time at IU Indianapolis, I worked in a group to start in the Men's Volleyball Club on campus. I participated in pre-dental club, and founded the A Kid Again Club at IU Indianapolis. I have volunteered with various organizations, such as humane societies, a fraternity on campus (TKE) to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, food pantries, and many more. After graduation, I immediately began a year-long internship with Dr. Hovda at Carmel Dental Group to gain more knowledge about dentistry and refine my manual dexterity skills. After my internship, I hope to attend Indiana University School of Dentistry to pursue my goal of becoming a general dentist and gain my DDS.
I have wanted to become a dentist since the sixth grade. At that age, I first realized how important oral health is, not just for a person’s smile, but for their overall wellbeing. From the moment I discovered my interest in dentistry, I began paying closer attention to the field, whether it was learning about proper dental hygiene, observing dental procedures, or understanding how oral health connects to the rest of the body. The more I learned, the more my curiosity grew, and that curiosity gradually turned into a strong passion of mine.
Over time, my interest has only deepened. I’ve come to appreciate how dentistry is a unique blend of science, art, and patient care. It’s not just about treating teeth, it’s about helping people feel confident, comfortable, healthy, and pain free. I am especially drawn to the idea of making a positive impact on people’s lives, whether that means relieving pain, improving someone’s smile, or educating patients on how to take better care of their oral health.
In the future, I want to continue to become a dependable and compassionate adult that people in my community can trust. I hope to build strong relationships with my patients and create an environment where they feel safe and cared for. Being a dentist, to me, means more than having a career. It means serving others, giving back to my community, and being someone that people can rely on for their health and well-being.
