During the summer, I had the valuable opportunity to engage in an impactful learning experience as a research mentor in collaboration with the Burmese American Community Institute on a crucial topic of college persistence rate among Burmese students living in the United States.
I chose this opportunity because of my passion for education equity and access, aiming to address the challenges faced by Burmese students in higher education. Additionally, it presented a chance to develop effective leadership skills and gain insights into diverse perspectives within underrepresented communities, aligning with my commitment to inclusivity.
My engaged learning experience during the summer was a pivotal point in my journey to my future career. It allowed me to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. By actively engaging in networking opportunities, I was able to cultivate meaningful relationships with other interns. This practical exposure was invaluable in expanding my knowledge beyond textbooks.
Moreover, my engaged learning experience taught me the significance of effective communication, an essential skill in HRM. I learned to articulate my thoughts clearly and professionally while engaging with potential mentors and colleagues. This skill is transferable and will greatly benefit me in my future career. By connecting classroom knowledge with practical networking, my engaged learning experience has better prepared me for my future career journey by enhancing my confidence, communication skills, and professional network.
I am now more confident in my ability to navigate the complexities of human resource management and build meaningful connections in the field. I believe this experience will be a stepping stone towards a successful career in HRM, enabling me to excel in a competitive job market.
