Making your ePortfolio usable for a broad audience
Hyperlinks for navigation and Accessibility considerations
Accessibility is making design and sytlistic choices that ensure your website is navigable by a diverse audience. This includes consider how those who use accomodations may experience your portoflio and choosing platforms and layouts that promote usability.
Select platforms and templates that are designed with accessibility in mind
Add captions and alt text to images and embedded content
Use accessibile file formats such as PDFs that support screen readers and other accessibility tools
Design with logical structures and headings
When using hyperlinks use meaningful text or alt text
Use readable fonts and appropriately sized text
San serif fonts preferred
Ensure good contrast
Consider adding transcripts to any video content
Zoom a good option for auto-generated captioning
When recording on zoom, turn the captioning on and the transcritp will be saved.
If using pre-existing video, try to find one with captioning already included.
If no captioning availible, consider using a text-to-speech program to create captions in a low involvement manner.

Site navigation can also aid in a site interconnectedness, which refers to a sense of connection between different section of your ePortfolio. Effective ePortfolios are rarely linear experiences. By adding site navigation, your ePortolfio becomes self-referential and more of a web rather than a path.
