I'm passionate about improving the lives of others and keeping my nation safe.
During my senior year in highschool, while taking AP Chemistry, I decided to pursue a degree in Chemistry and work towards a professional career in the same field due in part to having an amazing teacher. I fell in love with learning about the different theories that explain natural phenomenon in our world, but my true interest has always lain in the practical applications of what I learn. Indiana has some of the most polluted water systems in the entire country; our waters are filled with biological contaminants, agricultural chemical runoff, and general trash and debris. It was with these factors in mind that I decided to work towards a career in environmental science; specifically chemical and environmental safety. I'm dedicated to improving and protecting the environment so that the people around me and one day my children are able to appreciate the natural wonder of this plant.
One of the main reasons I decided to enroll in the ROTC program here at IUPUI and the national SMP program were due to the educational and career benefits. Specifically If I am able to become a Chemical Officer, our training provides us with a Hazardous Materials Technician certification; furthermore the Chemical Corps' Captain's Career Course allows me to attain a Masters in Environmental Management. Both of these educational opportunities would aid my civilian career aspirations.
