We will bring together researchers and practitioners to explore tensions in child-robot interaction research and contribute to co-creating a roboticist's practical guide to working with children.
The invited keynote speakers, Dr. Angela Colvert and Dr. Kruakae Pothong, will introduce the "Playful by Design" tool, to engage participants in considering the tensions, complexities, and possibilities of designing for a variety of playful, yet ethical and child-focused systems. This hands-on workshop invites participants to engage in reflections on how to balance competing design priorities in child-robot interaction.
Participants should submit to our a Google Form (URL to be provided) to briefly introduce themselves, their research, their interest in participating in this workshop, as well as a testimonial about their experiences in child-robot interaction research and specifically what topics they are interested in documenting within a community resource.
Our goal with this workshop is to promote effective discussions in identifying tensions that arise in designing child-robot interaction systems, eventually contributing to a community-driven resource for a roboticist's guide to working with children.
On the workshop day, discussions will be facilitated with the playful by design tool and participants will rotate in sessions to draft the first version of the community-driven guide.
