Goals-
My first goal for my internship was to learn how to be a professional in a work setting. I have achieved this by learning to connect with patients through a language barrier, as well as working with multiple different doctors and health professionals.
My second goal for my internship was to become more of an Innovator. I have made a progress in this by working independently on a data extraction project. I was tasked with going through patients previous medical chart records and entering in pertinent data in a different program. By doing this, I have gained valuable innovator experience.
My third goal was to become better at problem-solving independently. I have achieved this through the process of gaining access to my clinics scheduling system, in which the process had a lot of hurdles. I had to reach out for help on my own, and problem solve to get this task done.
Learning-
After taking the learning survey, I can tell that I am already more confident in asking for help when I need it and communicating with my supervisor and team when I need help. The nature of the work that I am doing includes a lot of direct communication with doctors as they are working with patients, and learning to communicate and ask questions has been very important for me.
During the rest of this school year, I plan to work very hard at actively seeking feedback as well as taking more opportunities to work independently on project to wrap up my time as an intern.
So far as an intern, I am using my strengths in areas like data entry, organizational skills, and teamwork.
This internship has helped me use things I've learned in my coursework in real world situations, and I have gained a deeper understanding of Public Health and is disciplines already.
