My name is Dayanara Hernandez, and I am currently majoring in Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology. Upon graduation, I hope to pursue a career in research, where I can contribute to advancing our understanding of health and medical science. After gaining some hands-on experience in the field, I plan to further my education through graduate studies to strengthen my professional skills and expand my career opportunities.
I am fortunate to have the opportunity to intern at the IU School of Medicine, working in the Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Physiology under the guidance of Dr. Lillian Plotkin and her team. The focus of the research at this site is the regulation of bone mass in relation to chromosomal versus gonadal sex, which has deepened my interest in how biological factors influence health outcomes.
In addition to my academic and research pursuits, I also work part-time as an administrative assistant at the Wesleyan Church Headquarters in Fishers, Indiana. While I enjoy my role there, I am eager to transition into research full-time in the near future and continue to grow in this exciting and impactful field.
